Netflix's Squid Game invites you to a deadly childhood game.

By Shafiyqah  /  12 Aug 2021 (Thursday)

Netflix has unveiled the official teaser trailer for its new show "Squid Game", an imaginative, unorthodox story in which 456 contestants risk their lives in a mysterious survival game for a chance to win 45.6 billion won. The catch? There will only be one winner amongst the 456 contestants.

The jarring juxtaposition between the pandemonium and Squid Game's colorful, nostalgic art approach heightens anticipation for the show's unique aesthetics and narrative.

The 456 participants, who have assembled at an undisclosed place out of desperation, play one game each day as they strive to win the jackpot of 45.6 billion won. Failure carries the penalty of death, and only one participant can receive the prize. Who is the brain behind these games, and how did this diverse bunch of people come up here?

Squid Game has drawn a lot of attention since it was initially revealed, due to its peculiar title and idea, unprecedented scale, and stellar cast and crew. This unorthodox combination of typical childhood joy and the current rat race delivers a story like no other is directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk  whose well-known as a versatile and socially sensitive filmmaker of "The Fortress", "Miss Granny", and "Silenced".

Lee Jung-jae, Park Hae-soo, Oh Young-soo, Wi Ha-Jun, Jung Ho-yeon, Heo Sung-tae, Anupam, and Kim Joo-ryoung
are among the cast members who draw viewers into the macabre show by giving nuanced performances that vividly convey the humanity of the diverse characters who have no choice but to participate in the game.

Who will win the price of 45.6 billion won? Squid Game premiers exclusively on Netflix, 17 September 2021.
