Tom Cruise – The Daredevil Star

By InCinemas  /  15 Jul 2018 (Sunday)
Tom Cruise is back as Ethan Hunt, the spy who get himself in the most life-threatening situations again and again. ‘Mission: Impossible – Fallout’ (now showing, check showtimes here ) is the sixth instalment and the word on the street is that this movie is the series best entry to date.

Over the last two decades, this series has gone from strength to strength by upping the action with Tom Cruise’s superhuman dedication to cheating death. Every instalment features a variety of exciting and memorable set-piece that is heart-pumping and the stakes so high it’s gasp-inducing.

Just this latest ‘M:I’ movie alone, he broke his ankle by slamming it into a wall while leaping between two buildings in a stunt gone wrong during production. And that’s not all, he even executed an exceptionally dangerous HALO (high-altitude military parachuting) jump without the use of computer-generated effects. Here’s behind-the-scenes featurette of this amazing feat:

Here are some of the death-defying ‘Mission: Impossible’ stunts starring the daredevil star trying to kill himself on camera for our entertainment pleasure, to put it bluntly.

Mission: Impossible (aka The one where he’s hanging on wire cables in the computer room)

Breaking Into Langley
If there ever is a quiet stunt scene, this is it. This scene is so memorable and iconic that it was parodied in television commercials and movies thereafter.

Exploding Fish Tank
A cool looking stunt even till this day. Only Mr. Cruise can look damn cool running away from the enormous blast of water rushing behind him after the explosion.

High Speed Train Ride
A combination of old school stunt work and computer generated effects, this sequence really went big for the movie’s climatic finale.

Mission: Impossible II (aka The one where he’s dangling from a cliff)

Rock Climbing
We are quite sure Mr. Cruise does not suffer from acrophobia (fear of heights). It was reported that he tore his shoulder while jumping between the rocks.

Knife Fight
The knife was real, not a prop or computer generated effect. This scene was achieved by relying on a precise measured cable attached to the knife.

Mission: Impossible III (aka The one where he bang sideways into the car after explosion)

Bridge Attack
An intense action sequence in and out.

The Jump
Mr. Cruise claims he separated his ribs while executing this base-jump in the studio.

Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol (aka The one where he’s dangling from the world’s tallest building in Dubai)

Scaling The Burj Khalifa
Even though there's safety harness strapped onto him, this is still one of the most terrifying stunt performed ever. Here’s behind the scenes footage:

Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation (aka The one where he’s dangling from an  airplane)

Airplane stunt
How he can withstand the pressure from the pounding wind velocity remains a mystery.

Underwater stunt
Holding his breath and avoiding the mechanized swing arm in order to swap a piece of computer data while the clock is ticking. This is taking multi-tasking to the extreme!

Where got Mission: impossible? Anything is possible with Tom Cruise!

Mission: Impossible - Fallout opens InCinemas 26 July
