Benedict Cumberbatch and Nicholas Hoult go head to head in "The Current War" trailer

The Martin-Scorsese-produced thriller, ‘The Current War’ tells the story of three visionaries who battle over the introduction electric power transmission systems in the late 19th century that became known as the ‘war of the currents’.
Starring Benedict Cumberbatch as Thomas Edison, Nicholas Hoult as Nikola Tesla and Michael Shannon as George Westinghouse, the film is a dramatisation of real-life events where Edison attempts to use his technology to bring light to Manhattan, but his efforts are obstructed when his partner Tesla competes with him with Tesla’s own AC current.
Directed by Alfonso Gomez-Rejon, the historical drama premiered at the Toronto Film Festival in 2017 but was dropped from is original distributor, The Weinstein Company due to the scandals surrounding its name. The director then made changes to the film after negative reviews and feedback from the festival.
The film also stars Tom Holland and Katherine Waterston and opens InCinemas 17 October 2019
