Kings of Comedy Mark Lee and Chapman To to Star in New Local Movie!

It’s face-off between Singapore’s comedy king Mark Lee and Hong Kong’s comedy king Chapman To in upcoming local movie ‘King of Mahjong’!
Expect lots of laughter coming from the two male leads who will play disciples of legendary mahjong guru Master Ru in the upcoming film. Michelle Ye (Ye Xuan) will star alongside them as the lead actress. The star-studded cast lineup includes Hong Kong’s Eric Tsang, Venus Wong, Cheronna Ng and Zhu Mi Mi and Singapore stars Richard Low, Dennis Chew and Patricia Mok.
“We want to choose a theme that has a mass appeal for everyone… a theme that is relatable to Asians,” said Chow Wai Ling, PR Director for Zingshot Productions, a new production company which is fully funding King of Mahjong.
The film is projected to cost over S$2 million, will commence filming this month in both Singapore and Malaysia.
On board the production team is K.Kopter, the team who created stunning visual angels and challenging movements for films like ‘The White Storm’ and numerous Jack Neo movies. Lim Teck, Managing Director of Clover Films shared, “I dare say that five years ago, we wouldn’t have made this movie in this manner, without the resources or connection we made over the years.”

“King of Mahjong” centers on the decade-long feud and eventual reunion of Huang Tian Ba (Mark Lee) and Ah Fatt (Chapman To), two top disciples of legendary mahjong guru, Master Ru.
20 years later, Huang Tian Ba, who is now a world-acclaimed mahjong magnate shows up in Ipoh to challenge Fatt to a final showdown – The International Mahjong King
Competition. Despite Huang’s insistence, Fatt declines to join the competition as he is
determined and contented to lead the life of a commoner.
In a bid to force Fatt into the showdown, Huang abducts Fatt’s wife, Lei Meng Na (Michelle Ye). Fatt has no choice but to join the competition as Huang holds his wife as hostage. On the mahjong table, Fatt and Huang compete as the finalists; Ru Wu Chang’s
secret mahjong technique and the truth comes to light as the winner emerges...
Directed by Adrian Teh, King of Mahjong is slated to release in the first quarter of 2015.
