Singaporean filmmaker Boo Junfeng’s 2nd feature film ‘Apprentice’, has been selected to be part of this year’s Cannes Un Certain Regard line-up at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival! The movie has also been acquired by international sales agent Luxbox, and has further been picked up for France (Version Originale Condor), Turkey (Bir Films), Mexico (ND Mantarraya) and Hong Kong & China (Bravos Pictures).

For the local audience, you will be able to catch his film in theatres on 30th June! Check out the trailer, below!

A Singapore/Germany/France/Hong Kong/Qatar co-production shot in Singapore and Australia, APPRENTICE concerns Aiman, a 28-year-old correctional officer who is transferred to a top security prison. Inside, he strikes up a friendship with 65-year-old Rahim, who is soon revealed to be the chief executioner of the prison. When Rahim’s assistant suddenly quits, he asks Aiman to work under him…and perhaps to take over as his successor.

The film stars veteran Malaysian actor Wan Hanafi Su (Dain Said's BUNOHAN, Liew Seng Tat's MEN WHO SAVE THE WORLD) as Rahim, as well as Mastura Ahmad as Suhaila and newcomer Fir Rahman as the protagonist Aiman.

“The film has been a labour of love over the past five years, and I look forward to be back at Cannes with these dedicated and committed partners,” says director Boo Junfeng who premiered his first feature film ‘Sandcastle’ at the International Critics’ Week at Cannes Film Festival in 2010.
