Korean film ‘Train to Busan’ hits the $2million mark at the local box office in less than 2 weeks, grossing a stunning $836,000 over its 2nd weekend (11th August to 14th August), 36% or $225,000 higher as compared to its 1st weekend (4th August to 7th August) at $611,000!
Just last week, it was announced that the movie became the first Korean movie in Singapore to hit the million-dollar mark at the box office. The performance also puts the movie at the top of the local box office chart for Korean movies, surpassing the result (SGD $980,000) held by '200 Pounds Beauty' in 2007.
Train To Busan not only broke records locally, the movie also broke record in South Korea, being the first movie to reach 10 million admissions in the shortest span of time, and the first Korean movie to clock 10 million admissions this year.
