After 50 decades in the industry, international martial arts superstar Jackie Chan finally receives his very first golden statuette - an honorary Oscar award - at the annual Governors Awards ceremony held on Saturday.
“After 56 years in the film industry, making over 200 films, I’ve broken so many bones, finally this is mine,” he said. “I want to thank you, Hong Kong, such an incredible city, my hometown, my hood, who make me. China, my country, I am proud to be Chinese. Thank you, Hollywood, for all of those years teaching me so many things, and also make me a little bit famous. I’m just honored to be here.”
A total of four industry heavyweights were awarded this award, an honorary award for their decades of work in the film industry. The other three awardees were casting director Lynn Stalmaster, editor Anne V. Coates, and documentarian Frederick Wisema. The evening was attended by Hollywood's elite, including Denzel Washington, Lupita Nyong'o, Nicole Kidman, Emma Stone, Ryan Reynolds, Amy Adams and Dev Patel.
