Disney’s Beauty and the Beast Waltzes to Box Office Records in Singapore!

Despite the controversy surrounding the Disney movie, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast is roaring into box office successes around the world.
In Singapore, the studio’s latest live-action remake of the animation classic became the biggest opening weekend of 2017, garnering a cumulative box office of USD$2.1million locally. In Southeast Asia, the film opened to the number one position on the box office charts globally, taking a remarkable cumulative box office of USD$14.9million across the region on its' opening weekend.
Overseas, the Disney flick, starring Emma Watson and Dan Stevens, broke more records with it becoming the biggest live-action opening of all-time, biggest March opening and Number One opening of 2017 to date in the UK and Ireland. In America alone, the film opened to a monstrous $170million, besting Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’s debut last year ($166 million) as the sixth highest in domestic box office history.
Till date, the film has achieved USD$350 million at the global box office and is poised to continue its stellar performance at the box office.
