Is the world ready for a new Batman movie?
A new Batman movie, titled simply The Batman, will be directed by Planet of the Apes director Matt Reeves.
In 2019, Robert Pattinson was officially announced to play the dark knight, with approval from Christian Bale ("He's a wonderful choice for Batman.")
News of other cast has only been recently announced.
Jeffrey Wright will play Commissioner Gordon, which was previously and memorably played by Gary Oldman.
Zoë Kravitz (who has appeared in Mad Max: Fury Road, X-Men: First Class) will play Selina Kyle or Catwoman. Anne Hathaway previously donned the cat costume.
Andy Serkis will play Bruce Wayne's famous butler and father surrogate Alfred Pennyworth, which was previously and iconically played by Michael Caine.
The most exciting revelation is that Paul Dano of There Will Be Blood and Ruby Sparks fame will be playing the Riddler and Colin Farrell will play Oswald Cobblepot or the Penguin.
Watch the clip above to see how great Dano is.
Jonah Hill was in talks to play Riddler, but I think Dano is a far better choice.
The Riddler was formerly played by Jim Carrey, which was one of Carrey's best role.
The Hollywood Reporter recently penned an op-ed on why the Riddler is one of the few worthy villains for Batman.
"... for one thing, he’s one of the few villains who could argue that they’re the intellectual equal to Batman... He’s also, unusually for a Batman antagonist, not necessarily irredeemable — he worked on the side of the good guys for a number of years, starting in 2006 when Batman went on a sabbatical and the Riddler stepped up to take his place."
The Batman is set to release in June 2021.
