Directed by James Mangold (Ford V Ferrari), the biopic, reportedly titled ‘Going Electric’ will chronicle Dylan’s rise from a folk singer to a world-famous rock star, particularly focusing on his controversial embrace of the electric guitar in 1965.
Chalamet, who will be seen next in Little Women, is in talks to play the title role as the legendary singer. The young actor is best known for his role in Call Me by Your Name where he earned a Best Actor nomination at the Oscars. He was also praised for his performance in 2018 drama Beautiful Boy where he played a drug-addled teen opposite Steve Carell.
Bob Dylan has been a household name since the early 1960s with hit songs like ‘Like a Rolling Stone’, ’The Times They are a-Changin’ and ‘Blowin’ in the Wind’.
When it comes to featuring a biopic of musical legends on the big screen, the question remains whether the songs will be dubbed over by an impersonator or will the actor use his real vocals for the film? Taron Egerton sang with his actual voice when he played Elton John in Rocketman, a performance that won him a Golden Globe. No news on that yet, but we wouldn’t be surprised if the 24-year-old actor is actually a musical genius as well.
