Adapted from Louisa May Alcott’s novel, Greta Gerwig’s upcoming adaption of the tale is the eighth cinema adaption, which is set in 1860s New England in the aftermath of the American Civil War.
In "Little Women", Saoirse Ronan, Emma Watson, Florence Pugh and Eliza Scanlen star as March sisters Jo, Meg, Amy and Beth, respectively, with supporting performances from Meryl Streep (Aunt March), Laura Dern (Marmee) and Timothée Chalamet (Laurie).
The coming-of-age story follows Jo March, an aspiring writer who is working on a novel about her life, and her sisters who are determined to live their life on their own terms. “Women, they have minds and they have souls as well as just hearts. And they’ve got ambition and they’ve got talent as well as just beauty. And I’m so sick of people saying that love is just all a woman is fit for,” says Jo in the trailer.
Little Women is slated for a Christmas release, opening InCinemas 25 December 2019.
