Netflix has ordered a live-action adaption show based on the popular manga and anime franchise, One Piece. It is said to be a ten-episode series from publisher Shueisha and Tomorrow Studios.

One Piece is the bestselling manga franchise in Japanese history, written and illustrated by Eiichiro Oda, follows Monkey D. Luffy, the leader of a pirate crew who has the powers to turn his body into rubber after eating a “Devil Fruit,” and who ventures around a fantastical world of exotic islands and vast oceans in search of the legendary treasure known as “One Piece” to become the next Pirate King.

Steven Maeda (The X-Files, Lost) will be penning the script, who will also act as the showrunner and executive producer, with Matt Owens (Luke Cage, Agents of SHIELD) will co-write and executive producer as well.
One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda will join Maeda and Owens as an executive producer to oversee the series.
