Singapore, 25 March 2013 – Movie aficionados can now look forward to a new range of collectible items available exclusively at Cathay Cineplexes – movie-themed RealD 3D glasses inspired by popular movie franchises such as Transformers, The Avengers, Cars and Star Wars. A chic Polaroid collection is also available for the fashionistas among the movie audience.

These limited-edition RealD 3D glasses will be available from 28 March 2013 exclusively at The Cathay Cineplex and Cathay Cineplex Cineleisure Orchard. With this timely launch, movie-goers can enjoy the 3D version of the upcoming blockbuster
G.I. Joe: Retaliation in style while wearing these RealD 3D glasses. In the approaching summer blockbuster season, movie-goers can also look forward to designs inspired by the widely-anticipated sequels
Despicable Me 2,
Iron Man 3 and
Star Trek Into Darkness.
Other than the collectible designs, basic RealD 3D glasses will be available at all Cathay Cineplexes. These basic glasses will come in three different sizes: Adults, Kids and Clip-ons. With personal RealD 3D glasses, movie-goers will be able to enjoy 3D movies in hygienic comfort as they are not recycled from other users. Movie-goers will also be able to reuse the glasses for up to 20 times, depending on the level of care given.
A basic pair of RealD 3D glasses will be sold at Cathay Cineplexes’ box office for $2.00, while the prices for other designs start from as low as $5.00. With effect from 28 March 2013, 3D movie ticket prices at Cathay Cineplexes will be made more affordable when movie-goers bring along their personal pair of reusable RealD 3D glasses:

Cathay Cineplexes is the first and only film exhibitor in Singapore to sell 3D glasses separately, meeting the ever-changing demands of the industry and providing the most immersive movie experiences for audiences. In a sign of growing demand for personalised movie experiences, more than 1,000 pairs of special-edition The Avengers-themed RealD 3D glasses were sold at Cathay Cineplexes before the opening weekend of The Avengers in 2012. In the Middle East, the sale of personal 3D glasses at Cathay Cineplexes’ joint venture Reel Cinemas has also been well-received,” said Suhaimi Rafdi, CEO of Cathay Organisation.
