Exclusive Premiere of The Child's Eye and Directors' Thoughts

By InCinemas  /  25 Apr 2011 (Monday)
[Responses from director Oxide Pang (Pang Brothers)]
[The Child's Eye Movie Trailer & More Pictures Below]

Seriously, just by looking at the movie stills, The Child's Eye seems rather scary to watch it alone. Yet, we won't want to miss the thrill and fright it offers. Directed by the Pang Brothers, who are famous for their horror films and The Eye series, The Child's Eye is a refreshing attempt to present a horror film in 3D. I haven't been able to catch The Child's Eye in 3D when it releases in theatres last October. However, after watching its DVD with some friends, I must admit that the 3D version will definitely be much more frightening with eye-popping horrors!

Nevertheless, it's a good get-together movie to enjoy the breath-taking scenes with your family and friends! And we gather news that The Child's Eye will be having its Exclusive TV Premiere on 天映频道 (Celestial Movies) TV Ch. 868 this coming May!

 Premiere : Sun, 1 May, 9PM
 Other Time : Thu, 5 May, 9PM
 Tue, 17 May, 10:40PM

Catch Rainie Yang on her first featured film, The Child's Eye, on Celestial Movies TV Ch 868 this Sunday! =)

 Genre : Horror
 Director : Pang Brothers
 Cast :
Rainie Yang, Gordon Lam ,Jo Koo, Elanne
 Kwong, Shawn Yue
 Language : Mandarin
 Sub-title : Chinese, English

Here at InCinemas, we have the privilege to interview director Oxide Pang about the movie but before we move on to that, I would like to share one of the movie stills that gives me the creeps.

Creepy isn't it? I'm quite sure Rainie can feel its presence! Yikes!
And here is the interview with director Oxide Pang. Enjoy =)

Q. What inspired you to do this movie and what is your view about the superstition on the behaviour of pregnant women that may lead to certain causes, as of the movie?
A: The story tells of a pregnant woman who has killed a lot of dogs and hence give birth to a creature with dog as a head. In fact, it revolves on the retribution theme. People in China and Hong Kong have always believed that it is forbidden for pregnant women to take lives.

Q. Share with us about the creature (Hybrid of dog and human) in the film. Is that a kid wearing a mask? Any funny or scary moments during the shoot?
A: We find a young and skinny boy and gave him a special makeup with a head mask. As of the creatures at birth, they were modelled after puppy infants.

Q. The movie has a lot of popping scenes catered for 3D effects, like the hand groping and the bullet shot. Can you share with us the challenges you face while filming the horror movie in 3D?
A:The making of the film takes up a very long duration because more effort is placed to plan out the effects that would appear on screen. Unlike other movies, the designing and technical process requires much more time and effort.

Q.The character in the film is also named as Rainie. Is it a coincidence or do you actually have in mind of having Rainie Yang in your film when writing the story?
A: We only decide on the casting after the script is finished. As the movie relates more to the youth, we thought of finding an energetic actress who is appealing to them. Also, we have always been looking forward to work with Rainie Yang.

Q.Tell us about directing Rainie Yang. How would you rate her performance?
A: Her performance is very good and professional. She puts in effort to shoot every single     scene. She also has her own views on her acting and it's probably because she has     starred in various dramas before. Although it's her first featured film, her performance is     very satisfactory.

Q. In the movie, there is another dimension showing the netherworld. Is that your ideal portrayal of how you feel about the other world?
A: We believe that there's ghost and that they exist in another dimension at the same time. However, we won't know how that dimension looks like, so it all comes to our pure imagination and design to re-create the netherworld.

Q.The ending is rather unexpected. It appears that all of them had a car accident and could very well be the result of the supernatural. What exactly happened?
A: Well, the final scene never indicate if that particular car had a car-crash. An accident has occurred but it may be the other cars or the car they are in. It is up to the audience's imagination to come up with the ending of the story.

Q.Have you had any ghostly encounters before? Is it convenient to share?
A: Never have an encounter with ghost but only base on my own imagination when doing the movies.

Q.Any upcoming projects the audience can expect from the Pang brothers?
A: There will be an upcoming movie 'The Detective' -「B+偵探」starring Aaron Kwok, and is my own independent film. Hope the audience will enjoy the movie.

Indeed, The Detective is coming to theatres soon enough on 12 May 2011. Keep a look out for this movie starring Aaron Kwok!
