The movie aficionadoes are beaming with joy as the summer blockbuster period is here! Filled with superhero films, sci-fi fantasies and Disney remakes, this April sees a good number of heart-pumping movies and anticipated sequels for the die-hard comic book fans and the avid moviegoers!

Let's not forget the possibility of having at least one major Hollywood star tour in Singapore next month too! Read on to find out which A-listers are heading to our sunny island!

InCinemas break down the top 5 movies to catch this April.

Disney’s The Jungle Book

Jon Favreau (director of Iron Man 1&2) is bringing one of Disney’s classic animation to the big screen with a live adaptation re-telling, complete with epic CGI effects. The film will take inspiration from the 1967 animation that we loved, bringing to life key characters like Mowgli (Neel Sethi), Shere Kan (Idris Elba), Kaa (Scarlett Johansson), Baloo (Bill Murray), King Louie (Christopher Walken), and Bagheera (Ben Kingsley).

Through the various trailers, it seems like this version is a little darker and twisted than what the kids of our time enjoyed. Nonetheless, this film is sure to please the young adults and those who can’t get ‘Bear Necessities’ our of their heads.

The Huntsman: Winter’s War
InCinemas 14 Apr 16

Apart from the fact that the main cast of this Hollywood adventure fantasy are coming down to Singapore for a gala premiere and a red carpet event this April, the film is a sequel to Snow White and the Huntsman which faired well at the box office in 2012. Featuring a bevy of talented actors, namely Oscar winner Charlize Theron, Emily Blunt, Jessica Chastain and Chris Hemsworth, The Huntsman: Winter’s War is a twisted take on the fairytale of princes, dwarfs and poison apples.

The Boss

Comedienne Melissa McCarthy is back with another comedy, right before we get to see her in the much hyped-up Ghostbusters in July. In this film, she plays a wealthy mogul Michelle Darnell who falls from grace and tries to get back up by putting her knowledge of the business world into a girls scout’s brownie business. It’s saucy, crude but incredibly hilarious - the way you would expect McCarthy to be.

Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War
InCinemas 28 Apr 16

Touted as the Avengers 2.5, it’s the ultimate face-off between Tony Stark (Iron Man) and Steve Rogers (Captain America) as both superheroes battle to save the world in their own perceived ways. Backing them are the other Avengers such as Black Widow, Ant-Man, Hawkeye, Vision, Scarlet Witch and more - split into #TeamCap or #TeamIronMan.

It has been rumoured that Captain America himself, Chris Evans will be in Singapore for a premiere, and probably along with his #TeamCap comrades. InCinemas speculates who may be walking the blue carpet at Marina Bay Sands in April! Stay tuned to this page for updates!

Assassination Classroom: Graduation
InCinemas 28 Apr 16

Sequel to the Japanese ‘live-action’ adaption of the hit manga ‘Assassination Classroom’, Korosensei is back with Class 3-E of Kunugigaoka Junior High School with an intention to destroy Earth. With the addition of new cast members, more interesting set designs and a juicer plot, here are 4 things to look forward to Assassination Classroom: Graduation
