'Line Walker', 'Train To Busan', 'Call Of Heroes' Among 18 New Asian Films to Screen in 2nd Half of 2016!

By Flora  /  09 Jun 2016 (Thursday)

Clover Films, one of Singapore’s film distribution and production company will be bringing in a total of 18 Asian movies to Singapore cinemas in the second half of 2016.

The lineup includes films from China, Taiwan, South Korean, Hong Kong, Thailand and Singapore, with notable films like ‘Line Walker’, ‘Railroad Tigers’, ‘Train to Busan’ and ‘Apprentice’ by Singaporean filmmaker Boo Junfeng.

These selected Asian movies feature an array of international stars including Jackie Chan (Railroad Tigers); Louis Koo and Nick Cheung (Line Walker); Sean Lau and Eddie Peng (Call of Heroes); Gong Yoo (Train to Busan); and Liam Neeson (Operation Chromite).

The two Singaporean films are Apprentice by Boo Junfeng, and Lucky Boy, directed by Boris Boo. Apprentice tells a story about a young prison guard Aiman, who is brought under the wing of the prison’s chief executioner Rahim. The film was selected the 69th Cannes Film Festival's Official Selection under Un Certain Regard earlier this year, and received a standing ovation during its world premiere.

Lucky Boy is a comedy-drama that stars Chew Chor Meng, Wang Wei Liang and Venus Wong, tells a story about a boy who has been regarded as someone who holds a ‘nearly, almost there’ luckless fate throughout his life.

“These are exciting times for Asian cinema and we are happy to have signed many highly-anticipated movies from the region! With this amazing slate of new titles, we are confident of outdoing our past performance for Asian movies in Singapore for 2016!" says Mr Lim Teck, Managing Director of Clover Films.
