), Hassan Muthalib, and Dr Vimala Perumal; and a supporting art exhibition for festival-goers to learn more about the Malaysian cinema.
Veteran Malaysian filmmaker, Mr Hassan Muthalib, who has been an integral part of the Malaysian film industry for the last 50 years, will be curating this year’s lineup. Mr Muthalib is the director behind the popular “Sang Kancil & Silat Legenda”, Malaysia’s first animated feature film and is officially recognized as the ‘Father of Malaysian Animation’. He is also a highly regarded film historian and critic, whose writings appear in many books and academic journals across the world and is a jury member of numerous local and international film festivals.
The movies featured at this year’s showing include critically acclaimed Tamil film “Jagat”, Malay film “Redha” as well as Malaysia’s record smashing breakout hit, “Ola Bola”.
