Watch the stunning new trailer of Oscar-winning director Alfonso Cuaron's 'Roma'

By Say Peng  /  16 Nov 2018 (Friday)

'Roma', the new film from the Oscar-winning director of 'Children of Men' and 'Gravity', Alfonso Cuaron, has been blazing through the film festival circuit.

It world premiered at the Venice International Film Festival in August this year, where it won the festival's top prize, the Golden Lion.

The film is also selected as the Mexican entry for the Oscars Best Foreign Language Film next year.

Based on Cuaron's childhood, 'Roma' chronicles the a tumultuous year in the life of a middle-class family in Mexico City in the 1970s.

The film follows Cleo, a young live-in domestic worker, played by first-time actress Yalitza Aparicio, who works for a family in the middle-class neighborhood of Roma, where Cuaron had grew up.

Critics worldwide have lavished acclaim on 'Roma'. Variety praised 'Roma' as "a luminous vision" while The Guardian declared that "Roma is [Cuaron's] best film so far: a thrilling, engrossing and moving picture with a richly personal story to tell, beautifully and dynamically shot in pellucid black and white."

Also, in a surprising turn of events, Netflix has decided to theatrically release 'Roma' in selected territories. Netflix most recently announced that 'Roma' will be theatrically shown in Korea, following news of its theatrical showing in the US and UK.

'Roma' will premiere on Netflix on 14 December.

In the mean time, check out the trailer.
