Golden Globes 2019: Bohemian Rhapsody and Green Book strike gold; A Star Is Born snubbed

The big winner of the 2019 Golden Globes, held on Sunday, is Bohemian Rhapsody.
The Freddie Mercury biopic, directed by Bryan Singer and Dexter Fletcher, and starring Rami Malek, won Best Motion Picture for Drama.
Malek beat out hot favorite Bradley Cooper to win Best Performance in a Motion Picture – Drama.
This meant that Bradley Cooper, the writer, director, and actor of A Star is Born went home empty-handed because Alfonso Cuaron won Best Director for his Golden Lion-winning Netflix film Roma, which won Best Foreign Language Film.
Even Lady Gaga, who, more than Cooper, was expected to win Best Performance for Drama, lost out to The Wife's Glenn Close.
In the end, A Star Is Born walked away with only one prize - for Best Original Song for Shallow.
The other big winner was feel-good drama Green Book, winning three prizes - Best Musical or Comedy Film, Best Screenplay and Best Supporting actor for Mahershala Ali.
Green Book will screen in cinemas later this month.
Meanwhile, Best Performance in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy went to Christian Bale who played former American Vice President Dick Cheney in Vice, and to Olivia Colman who played Queen Anne in Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos' dark comedy period drama The Favourite.
In addition to the Vice's director Adam McKay, Bale cheekily thanked Satan in his acceptance speech.
Here's the list of the other winners!
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse won Best Animation.
Regina King from If Beale Street Could Talk won Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture.
The much snubbed First Man, directed by Damien Chazalle, won Best Original Score.
Now that the Golden Globes is over, up next is the Oscars!
