New 'Stranger Things: Season 3' trailer shows the kids have grown up

By Say Peng  /  25 Mar 2019 (Monday)

The cult hit 'Stranger Things' will return for an eight-episode third season, starting on 4th July.

Netflix has dropped a long and tantalizing 3-minute trailer.

The tone is set when we hear Finn Wolfhard's Mike intone "We're not kids anymore."

The characters and actors have all grown up and, with adolescence and raging hormones, it seems that this new season will tackle (slightly) more mature themes and feature more badass villains and monsters.

From the trailer, we see an intimidating gunman and a positively horrifying insect-like creature with a roar of a T-Rex.

But all that does not mean that the show has lost its sense of humour. It still is as funny as ever as can be seen in the trailer.

Fans can also look forward to a major new cast member - Maya Hawke, daughter of Ethan Hawke, who will play Robin.

When it debuted in 2016, 'Stranger Things' became one of Netflix's marquee series and a cultural phenomenon.
