By Chen Shun / 01 May 2020 (Friday)
Excitement is building up for Star Wars fans all around the globe as we celebrate the 40th anniversary of the epic sage, created in 1980, ‘The Empire Strikes Back’. As we quickly approach May The Fourth (Star Wars Day), it’s the perfect time to rewatch the flick!
Till this day, ‘The Empire Strikes Back’ is still regarded as one of the best films of all time, and it’s largely considered to be the best film in the entire saga! With that being said, it will be doing the classic flick a disservice if there wasn’t a special line of toys being released to commemorate the anniversary.
Back in February of this year, Hasbro announced that they would re-release previously retired figures from the Black Series line in retro packaging. Iconic characters from the Black Series include figures like Luke Skywalker and Han Solo in Bespin gear, Leia Organa in Hoth gear, Lando Calrissian, Yoda and many more. All the above-mentioned figures are just the tip of the iceberg for the re-release!
The best part of The Empire Strikes Back 40th-anniversary toys are the new Snowspeeder scaled to the 6-inch Black Series figures, and an Imperial Probe Droid too. Check them all out below!
The Black Series is getting a Rebel Snowspeeder scaled to the 6-inch action figure line. To add on, it comes with Luke Skywalker’s trust gunner Dak Ralter. Featuring a 2-crew cockpit, retractable landing gear, a harpoon and tow cable, this is one of the coolest vehicles in the Black Series line.
The other figure that will make Star Wars fans crazy is the addition of Imperial Probe Droid to the Black Series. The droid has five fully articulated limbs and a stand that makes it appear as if it’s floating while spying on the Rebel Alliance.
The central three characters of the original trilogy were played by Mark Hamill (Luke), Harrison Ford (Han), and Carrie Fisher (Leia), respectively.
For newer and younger fans, ‘The Empire Strikes Back’ is the second theatrical release of the original trilogy. The trilogy’s release spanned across 1977-1983 and is considered one the best movies of its time.
Synopsis: Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), Han Solo (Harrison Ford), Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) and Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew) face attack by the Imperial forces and its AT-AT walkers on the ice planet Hoth. While Han and Leia escape in the Millennium Falcon, Luke travels to Dagobah in search of Yoda. Only with the Jedi master's help will Luke survive when the dark side of the Force beckons him into the ultimate duel with Darth Vader (David Prowse).
