In a year of ongoing delays and stalled productions in the film and television industry, it's a surprise that award shows are still being carried out. First off the list for the year is the ever-controversial Golden Globes Awards!

The Crown

The Crown is historical drama series about the reign of Queen Elizabeth II, created and principally written by Peter Morgan for Netflix. Morgan developed it from his drama film The Queen (2006) and especially his stage play The Audience (2013).

The Queen's Gambit

The Queen's Gambit is a coming-of-age period drama miniseries based on Walter Tevis's 1983 novel of the same name. The title refers to "Queen's Gambit", a chess opening. It was written and directed by Scott Frank, who created it with Allan Scott. Beginning in the mid-1950s and proceeding into the 1960s, the story follows the life of Beth Harmon (Anya Taylor-Joy), an orphaned chess prodigy on her rise to the top of the chess world while struggling with drug and alcohol dependency.

I Know This Much Is True

I Know This Much Is True is a drama television miniseries co-written and directed by Derek Cianfrance based on the 1998 novel of the same name by Wally Lamb. Mark Ruffalo stars in two roles, identical twin brothers Dominick and Thomas Birdsey.

Ted Lasso

Ted Lasso is a series developed by Bill Lawrence, Jason Sudeikis, Joe Kelly and Brendan Hunt, based on a character of the same name that Sudeikis first portrayed in a series of promos for NBC Sports' coverage of the Premier League. It follows American college football coach Ted Lasso who's been recruited to coach an English Premier League team, AFC Richmond, despite having no experience in association football.

Lovecraft Country

Lovecraft Country is a horror drama television series developed by Misha Green based on and serving as a continuation of the 2016 novel of the same name by Matt Ruff, starring Jurnee Smollett and Jonathan Majors. The series follows a young black man who travels across the segregated 1950s United States in search of his missing father, learning of dark secrets plaguing a town on which famous horror writer H. P. Lovecraft supposedly based the location of many of his fictional tales.

Hamilton

Hamilton is an American historical fiction musical film comprising a live stage recording of the 2015 Broadway musical of the same name, which was inspired by the 2004 biography Alexander Hamilton by Ron Chernow. It was directed and produced by Thomas Kail and produced, written, and composed by Lin-Manuel Miranda. Miranda also stars as Treasury Secretary and Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, along with the musical's original principal Broadway cast.

The Undoing

The Undoing is an American mystery psychological thriller television miniseries based on the 2014 novel You Should Have Known by Jean Hanff Korelitz. It was written and produced by David E. Kelley and directed by Susanne Bier. The miniseries stars Nicole Kidman and Hugh Grant with Edgar Ramirez, Noah Jupe, Lily Rabe, Noma Dumezweni and Donald Sutherland.
