The Walt Disney Company received a total of 23 nominations from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for the 94th Academy Awards!

Disney's Encanto

Disney's Encanto tells the tale of an extraordinary family, the Madrigals, who live hidden in the mountains of Colombia in a magical house, in a vibrant town, in a wondrous, charmed place called an Encanto.
In the film, the magic of the Encanto has blessed every child in the family with a unique gift from super strength to the power to heal—every child except one, Mirabel (Stephanie Beatriz). But when she discovers that the magic surrounding the Encanto is in danger, Mirabel decides that she, the only ordinary Madrigal, might just be her exceptional family’s last hope.

The film received three Oscar nominations – Best Animated Feature Film, Best Original Score, and Best Original Song.

Disney and Pixar's Luca

Disney and Pixar's Luca is a coming-of-age story about one young boy experiencing an unforgettable summer filled with gelato, pasta and endless scooter rides.
Set in a beautiful seaside town on the Italian Riviera, Luca (Jacob Tremblay) shares these adventures with his newfound best friend, Alberto (Jack Dylan Grazer), but all the fun is threatened by a deeply-held secret: they are sea monsters from another world just below the water's surface.

The film received an Oscar nomination for Best Animated Feature Film.

Disney's Raya and the Last Dragon

Disney's Raya and the Last Dragon travels to the fantasy world of Kumandra, where humans and dragons lived together in harmony. But when sinister monsters known as the Druun threatened the land, the dragons sacrificed themselves to save humanity.
Now, 500 years later, those same monsters have returned and it's up to a lone warrior, Raya, to track down the last dragon in order to finally stop the Druun for good. However, along her journey, she'll learn that it'll take more than dragon magic to save the world--it's going to take trust as well.

Disney's Cruella

Disney's Cruella follows the rebellious early days of one of cinemas most notorious - and notoriously fashionable - villains, the legendary Cruella de Vil. Set in 1970s London amidst the punk rock revolution, the film sees a young grifter named Estella (Emma Stone), a clever and creative girl determined to make a name for herself with her designs.
One day, Estella's flair for fashion catches the eye of the Baroness von Hellman (Emma Thompson), a fashion legend who is devastatingly chic and terrifyingly haute. But their relationship sets in motion a course of events and revelations that will cause Estella to embrace her wicked side and become the raucous, fashionable and revenge-bent Cruella.

Marvel Studios' Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings follows Martial-arts master Shang-Chi, who must confront the past he thought he left behind when he is drawn into the web of the mysterious Ten Rings organization.

The film received an Oscar nomination for Best Visual Effects.

Summer of Soul

Summer of Soul presents a powerful and transporting documentary-part music film, part historical record created around an epic event that celebrated Black history, culture and fashion.
Over the course of six weeks in the summer of 1969, just one hundred miles south of Woodstock, The Harlem Cultural Festival was filmed in Mount Morris Park (now Marcus Garvey Park). The footage was never seen and largely forgotten--until now.
The documentary shines a light on the importance of history to our spiritual well-being and stands as a testament to the healing power of music during times of unrest, both past and present.

The film received an Oscar nomination for Best Documentary (feature).

The Eyes of Tammy Faye

The Eyes of Tammy Faye is an intimate look at the extraordinary rise, fall and redemption of televangelist Tammy Faye Bakker (Jessica Chastain). In the 1970s and 80s, Tammy Faye and her husband, Jim Bakker (Andrew Garfield), rose from humble beginnings to create the world's largest religious broadcasting network and theme park, and were revered for their message of love, acceptance and prosperity.
Tammy Faye was legendary for her indelible eyelashes, her idiosyncratic singing, and her eagerness to embrace people from all walks of life. However, it wasn't long before financial improprieties, scheming rivals, and scandal toppled their carefully constructed empire.

The film received two Oscar nominations - Best Actress in a Leading Role (Chastain) and Best Makeup and Hairstyling.

West Side Story

An adaptation of the 1957 musical, West Side Story explores forbidden love and the rivalry between the Jets and the Sharks, two teenage street gangs of different ethnic backgrounds. 
Love at first sight strikes when young Tony spots Maria at a high school dance in 1957 New York City. Their burgeoning romance helps to fuel the fire between the warring Jets and Sharks, vying for control of the streets.

The film received seven Oscar nominations - Best Picture, Best Director (Spielberg), Best Actress in a Supporting Role (DeBose), Best Sound, Best Costume Design, Best Cinematography, Best Production Design.

West Side Story is coming to Disney+ March 2, 2022.
 
 

Nightmare Alley

Nightmare Alley follows charismatic but down-on-his-luck Stanton Carlisle (Bradley Cooper), who endears himself to clairvoyant Zeena (Toni Collette) and her has-been mentalist husband Pete (David Strathairn) at a traveling carnival.
He crafts a golden ticket to success, using this newly acquired knowledge to grift the wealthy elite of 1940s New York society. With the virtuous Molly (Rooney Mara) loyally by his side, Stanton plots to con a dangerous tycoon (Richard Jenkins) with the aid of a mysterious psychiatrist (Cate Blanchett) who might be his most formidable opponent yet.

The film received four Oscar nominations – Best Picture, Best Costume Design, Best Cinematography, and Best Production Design.

Nightmare Alley is coming to Disney+ on March 23, 2022.
