Wu Chun Shares His Magic (with the needy) This Christmas!

By InCinemas  /  01 Dec 2011 (Thursday)
[Magic To Win Movie Trailer Included!]
Wu Chun Shares His Magic (with the needy) This Christmas along with MAGIC TO WIN producer Raymond Wong and its director Wilson Yip!

Previously, we've put up a MAGIC TO WIN Gala Premiere tickets giveaway (Prize Courtesy Of: Clover Films) on our InCinemas Facebook Page where the participants would have to share with us which of the 5 elements - Metal (金), Wood (木), Water (水), Fire (火) and Earth (土) - featured in the movie is their favourite and why.

We've got quite a number of creative response from our InC-Fans and you can check them out here. To speak of a few, one was by Brenda who wrote, "I want to have the 金 element because I can turn all useless things into 金 (gold)! So that I can sell them out at a very very high price! and I'll be one of the millionaires in the world! $$" and the other by Grace Hoo who wish for the FIRE element because.. "I am passionate about life and have the burning desire to light up everyone else life too!".

"I haven't really think too deeply about the elements," Wu Chun laughed when we post him a similar question. "In the movie, I played the Earth Magician who is environment-friendly and cares for the plants, and in a way uses his magic to give back to the society. I would love to do that too. It's something positive."

So there we have,  the MAGIC TO WIN director Wilson Yip 叶伟信, producer Raymond Wong 黄百鸣 and actor Wu Chun 吴尊 turning up at the Plaza Singapura, Front Plaza on Tuesday (29 Nov), in conjunction with the release of 《开心鬼之开心魔法》 Magic To Win, to meet their supporters and play a part for the underprivileged. Fei Yue Family Service Centre (飞跃家庭服务中心) was the appointed beneficiary of this Rice Collection exercise.

"As a celebrity, you have the influence to make an impact on the public," said Wu Chun, who had also indicated that this event is one that he would like to make use of his public image to urge the public to do charity. "This exercise is able to edcucate the others. Although to some, the rice may not cost a lot, but at least we let them know that charity is something we can do within our means and when you have donated, you will feel a sense of happiness because you've helped those who are in need."

Nice! There was also interaction with some of the lucky fans on stage. Each celebrity was to pick 2 persons up on stage to join them for a simple game of guessing the words through the body gestures. In addition, the first 50 fans who had been queuing at the MAGIC TO WIN event gets an autographed poster of our three celebrities and a Magic To Win Gala Premiere Ticket! The next 50 fans will get only the autographed poster which is just as good. Either way, MAGIC TO WIN opens InCinemas just next week on 8 December 2011.

ON THE MOVIE MAGIC TO WIN
In the press conference earlier, Producer Raymond Wong shares with us that MAGIC TO WIN can be considered as one of the HAPPY GHOST series. He recalled the times when he shoot the previous HAPPY GHOST series when the teechnology wasn't that advanced. "I am to convince the audience that I have psychic powers and in one of the scenes I am to throw the basketball backwards into the loop. I intend to give it a try to make it realistic and the director was telling me not to waste time trying. I missed the first 10 tries, but on the 11th time, it hit the loop. And on the 12th I scored! This was done without using technology. I feel that now, it will be more spectacular than in the past."

Indeed, one of the highlights the audience can expect is probably the magic effects they have in the film. There was even a 'star wars' scene where the characters make use of the light sabre to inflict damage. "I feel that it's a weapon of high technology. These action scenes in the movie gives me a huge room for imagination to take place." said Wilson Yip.

The script is written by Edmond Wong and in the press conference, Raymond Wong emphasize that he didn't interfere in the process although the highly successful 'Happy Ghost' franchise is like his baby. "I feel that I should let new ideas be injected into this popular series. We’re using this Happy Ghost concept to bring the characters into the story. MAGIC TO WIN will be a new series of Happy Magic."

"It's not because he's my boss that I say this. Raymond is really a good boss to work with. He trust that we would do a good job and leave it freely to us with doing up the script," said director who is well-known for his work in Ip Man 1 and 2.

Expect electrifying scenes in the movie! Wu Chun gets electrocuted whenever someone usess an electronic device! "I can't remember how many NG scenes it took. Probably 1-3. It was designed by the director." said Wu Chun. "I don't think it's awkward. It's actually more of fun. I even asked if the director needs the duration to last even longer!"

About his character in this comedy genre, Wu Chun feels that it's very fun and look forward to play such role in future if there's an opportunity. "I think it's a happy thing to bring happiness to the others."

Wu Chun also shares with us how he would like to spend his Christmas Day. "The best scenario is to be together with my family. How you celebrate doesn't matter, but whom you are with does." He also revealed that Singapore gives him plenty of memories and he would grab his chances to tour around whenver he can. "Although it can be late at night, I'll still ask my friends to bring me out. This time I'm considering Orchard then probably to Newton Circus for supper. I've heard the Christmas lighting in Orchard is pretty nice!"

MAGIC TO WIN is rated PG and opens InCinemas 8 December 2011.
  • [Quick Note: Can you recognize the old man in the movie poster below? It might not occur to you at first glance but he is actually Raymond Wong himself! This is his new outlook at the movie!

Raymond Wong told us that initially he was a little reluctant to dye his hair to such bright greyish colour. But later he expressed confidence in the director and allowed himself to transform into the Water Magician. His make-up was done by a Japanese make-up artist and he finds the moustache portion was pretty tedious for the make-up artist as it was attached one by one.]
