Japanese Psychothriller 'Gannibal' is now on Disney+!

Disney+ audiences across the world today awoke to the spine-chilling arrival of
Gannibal
,
a heart-pounding new Japanese psychothriller that starts streaming on Disney+ today!
Set in Kuge, a fictional Japanese village,
Gannibal
sees newly moved police officer Daigo Agawa arrive a broken man. While things start off promisingly for the new arrival, a series of alarming events, including the unexpected death of an elderly villager, begin to unfold, leading Daigo to the horrifying realization that something is deeply wrong with the village and those who live there. Thrown into a hostile environment with suspense around every corner, will the latest police officer to patrol the streets of Kuge village be able to bring those responsible to justice before it’s too late?
Based on the hit manga series of the same name by Masaaki Ninomiya,
Gannibal
features a unique storyline. Yuya Yagira (
HOKUSAI, Asakusa Kid
), known for winning Best Actor at the 57
th
Cannes Film Festival, plays the role of police officer Daigo Agawa who is faced with unexpected events after moving to a new village, and Riho Yoshioka (
Quartet, Here Comes Asa!
) plays Yuki Agawa, Daigo’s wife who moved to the new village in hope to find peace after going through a traumatic incident. Show Kasamatsu (
Tokyo Vice, Love You as the World Ends)
take on the role of Keisuke Goto, a member of the Goto family that dominates the mysterious Kuge village.
The series is brought to life exclusively on Disney+ by some of the biggest names in the Japanese creative industry. Produced by Teruhisa Yamamoto, producer of this year’s Academy Award-winning

and Tatsuya Iwakura,

is directed by Shinzo Katayama (
