LUNAFLY Charms With Their Music!

By InCinemas  /  14 May 2013 (Tuesday)
Korean acoustic band LUNAFLY was in town for a few days for their showcase and fan meet in Singapore.

Held at the Hard Rock Cafe, it was truly a memorable night for the 500 fans who turned up as early as six in the morning to queue for the best spots!

The group, comprising of leader Sam, guitarist Yun and drummer/pianist Teo, performed almost for two hours, including a short intermission in the middle.

(Check out more photos from LUNAFLY's press conference on our Facebook!)

Away from the heart-thumping, sleek Kpop dance moves, Lunafly belted out a total of 18 songs, comprising of their own tracks and covers of popular songs like Maroon 5‘s ‘Payphone’, Jessie J’s ‘Price Tag’, and Bruno Mars ‘Just The Way You Are’.

One of the best performances went to their title track of their debut album, ‘Fly To Love’ where fans were singing along to the tunes and waving their fan-boards frantically. Sam called it ‘The best reaction we (Lunafly) had so far’,  thanking fans for their support.

During the press conference held a day before their fan meet, the boys revealed that at every stop of their tour, they will prepare something special and unique to that country and for Singapore, they specially prepared a song by local songbird JJ Lin, ‘Endless Road’.

When asked if Teo and Yun see Sam as a brother or friend, Yun politely said that he sees Sam different during different occasions, sometimes as a friend and sometimes as an elder brother. Yun, the youngest in the group just felt that Sam is more of a leader to him.

Yun stole the show during the showcase, even though it was half-British Sam who conversed entirely in English with the fans, juggling between translating Korean to the fans, and English to the members.

As Teo and Yun have been listening to English music since young, they said that it only takes them about an hour or two to learn a new English song, taking into consideration the pronounciation of the English words. Sam added ‘They actually learn quite fast, it’s easier to sing in English actually!’

“We are serious artistes”, is the recent catchphrase for Yun, who kept using it to tease his other members and when fans urged him to do the Gwiyomi player. He was clever to push the task to Sam and Yun, who forcefully did it after much hesitation.

Teo eventually did all the cute actions as requested by fans. Although he asked them to put away their cameras, Sam playfully asked the fans to do the opposite. There were also other cute moments among the three who teased, cheered and joked with one another, but when they started to sing, the passion inside the boys could be seen through their music.

During the encore segment, singing a medley of popular songs from One Direction, Sam, Teo and and Yun walked down to get up close with fans, shook their hands and took picture with some of them.

With their angelic harmonisation when all three voices combine, it is no wonder why this is a rookie group to watch out for. While each of them are talented with their own instruments, all three are also vocalists in the group, each given a comparable amount of lines to sing and perform. Their love for music truly shines through their voices, smiles and music.
