Anthony Chen’s “Wet Season” drops 1st trailer

By Flora  /  28 Aug 2019 (Wednesday)

Watch the first trailer of the emotionally-tugging drama, “Wet Season”, directed by Singaporean director-producer, Anthony Chen.

The film will make its world premiere in the Platform section at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF)! The Platform programme is a director-driven section that aims to showcase original names in international cinema. This year, Platform will screen to 10 feature films, including world premieres from Julie Delpy, Alice Winocour, and of course, Chen.

This is Chen’s second feature, reuniting the main cast Yeo Yann Yann and Koh Jia Ler from his first feature, Ilo Ilo, which won the prestigious Camera d’Or at Cannes in 2013, followed by the Golden Horse Film Festival where Chen walked away with Best New Director and Yeo with Best Supporting Actress. The film put Chen and Singapore on the map of world cinema.

Wet Season tells the story about a Chinese teacher in Singapore who is struggling with marriage and school life, when she starts a friendship with a student with absentee parents.

No release date for Singapore has been announced at the moment.
