If you have watched Deadpool 2 and is smitten by ‘Yukio’ as we are, here’s more information about the Japanese Australian actress / idol Shioli Kutsuna (or ‘Shiori Kutsuna’).
Kutsuna was born in Sydney, Australia, and moved to Japan to pursue her showbiz career when she was 14.
In 2006, she won the Judge’s Prize at the All-Japan National Young Beauty Contest, and subsequently debuted in the drama series ‘3 nen B gumi Kinpachi Sensei 8’ in the following year.
Soon afterwards, advertisers came calling and she appeared in commercials from leading Japanese companies, one of them being the spokesperson for Pocky.
From 2009, she secured her first major starring role in ‘7 Mannin Tantei Nitobe (70,000 People Detective Nitobe)’ and started to be cast as a leading actress in various TV drama series and movies.
In 2011, she played the main role of Ran Mori in a live-action adaptation of the popular detective manga series “Detective Conan,” which tells the story of an amateur detective who transforms into a child. Kutsuna played the role of the detective’s childhood friend.
She was awarded the Best New Artist of 2011 by film magazine Kinema Junpo, and in the following year, won the Japan Wedding Best Dresser Award and The Clarino Beautiful Legs Award.
In March this year, she can be seen in ‘The Outsider’ with Jared Leto, released by Netflix. Here’s hoping the producers of Deadpool franchise will bring her character back for future installments!
