Trolls World Tour Introduces factions divided by music genres

By Flora  /  25 Jun 2019 (Tuesday)

The DreamWorks animation became a surprise box office hit in 2016, and this time, the adorable gang is back to save music from the hard-rocking Queen Barb.

The music from the 2016 release was one of the reasons why the movie had gained much traction. Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake’s rendition of ‘True Colours’ gave us all the feels, and Timberlake’s dance track ‘Can’t Stop the Feeling’ was the earworm for several months, an Oscar-nominated song, no less. So it’s no wonder that the sequel is going to put a little more emphasis on the musical aspect - by introducing the various musical genres!

As such, Trolls World Tour sees Poppy (Kendrick) and Branch (Timberlake) rallying the different troll tribes (Pop, Funk, Classical, Techno, Country and Rock) in order to save the Troll-verse from the rock gang who wants to destroy all music but rock. “We need to unite all the trolls because if we don’t stop her, who will?” Poppy says of Queen Barb (Rachel Bloom).

The musical film is joined by A-list musicians in the various genres such as: funk (Mary J. Bilge and George Clinton), rock (Rachel Bloom), classical music (Gustavo Dudamel), techno (Anthony Ramos), country (Kelly Clarkson) and pop (Kenan Thompson and Kunal Nayvar).
