The dark side is strong in this trailer.
Director J.J. Abrams, who helmed The Force Awakens, the first movie in the latest Star Wars trilogy, is returning for The Rise of Skywalker. This trailer was shown at the D23 Expo and Daisy Ridley (Rey) said in an interview that she was pretty shocked by what was showed, saying
I went to Bad Robot yesterday and I was like, 'Hey, can I see the teaser'? They were like, 'Yeah, yeah.' No warning. And I watch, and went [inhales deeply] 'Oh my god, are you really putting that in there?' That was my reaction. And then watching it today, it was weird because I felt nervous with it coming because I knew it was going to be. And then hearing the audience reaction was amazing.
Yes. It’s that shocking. If you managed to escape the reveals circulating on social media, you may want to stop reading because… SPOILERS AHEAD!
Towards the end of the trailer, we see the Dark Rey reveal (that’s what it is now called on Twitter), something that threw everyone off-guard. Rey is clad in a dark cloak with a hood over her head, wielding a red, double-sided lightsaber - the one where evil has always been seen to have. Does this mean that Jedi Rey has crossed over to the Dark Side?
The main cast including Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Adam Driver, Isaac and Kelly Marie Tran return for “Episode IX”, with the long-awaited return of Billy Dee Williams as Lando Calrissian. Newcomers include Keri Russell, Richard E. Grant, Naomi Ackie and the adorable droid D-O will join the cast.
This is the end, the final chapter to the latest Skywalker trilogy, following 2015’s Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens and 2017’s Star Wars: Episode VIII — The Last Jedi.
