There's No Stopping this International Superstar, Jackie Chan!

By InCinemas  /  19 Dec 2013 (Thursday)

The well-known martial arts expert and action director Jackie Chan may well be a household name, having done countless of action-packed films, including notable Hollywood movies like the Rush Hour series and The Karate Kid.

He turns 60 next year but despite his age, Chan is packed with projects and schedules for the next few years, including a ‘Peace and Friendship concert' next year, and intends to invite artistes from all over the world for this collaboration concert in conjunction with his birthday.

“I’ve been wanting to organise this concert for a long time but didn’t have the chance to, but now I can take the opportunity (celebrate his 60th birthday) to do it,” the Police Story 2013 actor said at the press conference held at the ArtScience Museum last Tuesday.

While many might have remembered Chan mentioning about hiring a stunt-double for his future projects during his promotion of CZ12 in Singapore last December, he revealed that for Police Story 2013, most of the big action scenes were still done by himself but was still afraid to ‘spend the rest of his live in a wheelchair’.

“As long as it’s a big action sequence, I’m be the one doing it. In future, I will be more careful,” the film director and producer continued.

Though this might be the sixth installment of the ‘Police Story’ franchise, Chan said this time, it’s a little different from the others. Instead of a film filled with fights and action, he focused more on family values this time round.

“There are more emotional scenes as compared to my previous films. Perhaps now that I’m older and have a family, my thoughts have also changed.”

Though being in the business for so many years and having acted numerous roles, it’s hard to think that there is still a role Chan has yet to explore. He said, “There’s still a role that I really wish to try; to act as a villain”.

“I’m still waiting for a good role, perhaps something similar to (Sylvester) Stallone, good, bad guy!’ he chuckled. “If there are good stories to explore, I will also consider a sequel to CZ12!"

You’ve heard of Jackie Chan producing and investing in films, taking time out to venture into other business. Besides a cinema chain in Beijing known as the ‘The Jackie Chan International Movie Theatre’, his coffee business, and an upcoming theme park “JC World”, there’s much more that is planned out for the man of many talents.

Let’s not forget his new offices in Hong Kong and Shanghai, a watch business, his fitness gymnasium and even a clothing line! He explains that he wants to accomplish all these before he hits 80 as everyday after that ‘will be a bonus’.

“I’m most relaxed when I’m in the hotel,” Chan admitted. During his free time, he would be browsing through videos, scouting for beautiful locations and researching for more movie ideas.

There’s no stopping Jackie Chan!
