[Festival Programme]

FOR YOU, I DANCE
Dir. Charmaine Yap | 2013 | 25min | Mandarin with English subtitles | PG

FOR YOU, I DANCE stems from a true account of falling in love against all odds. Setting out to be a film of homage, the story is set in bygone years of the 1960s – a personal challenge for the team to re-create a picturesque Singapore in its past. Ah Da makes his first delivery to Mrs Miao’s house and is instantly attracted to her. Mrs Miao finds Ah Da’s simple personality and subtle inclination to dancing interesting and decides to teach him dancing. Their ambiguous relationship soon faces societal pressure, and she is forced to make a decision.

A. MAATRAM
Dir. Kannan Vijayakumar | 2011 | 18min | Tamil with English subtitles | PG

Contemporary romantic thriller, A. MAATRAM, is the story of three friends who get thrown into turmoil when one of them goes missing. The film serves as a reflection of how young minds deal with the intricacies of love, friendship and hate in current society.

IT’S THURSDAY, 10TH NOVEMBER AND I THOUGHT OF YOU
Dir. Ivan Tan | 2012 | 10min | English | PG

A story about a first date, written in two days under dire straits, IT’S THURSDAY, 10TH NOVEMBER AND I THOUGHT OF YOU is an attempt to surmise most of the director’s feelings about photography, relationships and love. Set within the context of two individuals recalling their most cherished memories, it is a story that explores past experiences, muffins and an old-school camera, all while reminding us about the tenderness of love and the beauty of cinema.

OUTLOOK
Dir. Richie Tay | 2013 | 12mins | English | PG

OUTLOOK is a simple love story between Charlie and Erica. Charlie is a wanderer, who visits places without knowing why. During one of his visits, Erica approaches him and since then, their paths continue crossing every following day. A romance blossoms with Charlie thinking that their chance meetings were an amazing act of fate. Erica however knows otherwise. Will this secret tear them apart? Or will it provide them with a new outlook on love?

ZONED
Dir. Sivanessan | 2013 | 35mins | English

Nash has been zoned, friend zoned by Suzanna, whom he has known and loved since he was 17. And now attending her engagement dinner, he can’t bear to see the girl of his dreams sitting beside another man. Yet, even in his quiet desperation, he knows he is not alone.
