Cathay Motion Picture Awards Registration is Open!

The annual short film competition - Cathay Motion Picture Awards is back for the thrid season and is now open for registration!
Participants this year can look forward to attractive prizes where the The Best Motion Picture will take home $15,000 in cash – the largest cash prize for a filmmaking competition in Singapore!

Cathay Motion Picture Awards 2014 is open to participants from all walks of life, to form teams of up to three to take part. In conjunction with Cathay Organisation’s 79th Anniversary this year,
the main criterion of the competition is to submit a motion picture of
79 seconds, and it has to meet a production deadline of 79 hours – from
17 May 2014, Saturday, 12pm to 20 May 2014, Tuesday, 7pm.
All submitted entries will be shortlisted by a committee consisting of industry professionals, and the top 15 motion pictures will be presented to a panel of esteemed judges for evaluation, as well as uploaded onto the official website for public voting. The top three winners will be determined solely by the judges, while the Viewer’s Choice award will be presented to the team with the highest number of public votes.

The judges for Cathay Motion Picture Awards 2014 include homegrown director, host and actress Michelle Chong, as well as representatives from The Walt Disney Company and the media.
The top 15 finalists will also be on showcase at The Cathay Gallery –
last year’s top 15 motion pictures are currently on exhibition till 3
May 2014. The exhibition is open to the public.
The Best Motion Picture will take home $15,000 in cash – the largest cash prize for a filmmaking competition in Singapore, while the first and second runners-up will win $8,000 and $5,000 cash respectively. All winning entries, including the Viewers’ Choice award, will receive an exclusive Cathay VIP card worth more than $4,000 for each member of the team to watch free movies at Cathay Cineplexes for a year.
