How many filmmakers does it take to make the feature film ‘Train Station’? 40. 40 international filmmakers spanning across 25 countries team up to produce a collaborative feature film, which will be screening in Singapore in the months to come.

Though these filmmakers have never met in person, they managed to successfully produce the film, which connects dozens of short segments together, each made by a different director to tell a single but multi-faceted story.

The main character will be played by actors of different ethnic backgrounds, ages and genders.  The location is played by dozens of different cities around the world; From Detroit to Bogota, London, Berlin, Paris, Dubai, Tehran, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Mumbai and Manila.

Singaporean representative Joe Lee, directed one of the final segments of the film in December 2013. “Train Station” follows a single main character who, due to a delayed train, is faced with a series of dilemmas.

“The filmmakers involved in the film use a special web application to brainstorm ideas, collectively write a screenplay, and coordinate the details of their productions”, says Hesam Dehghani, one of the CollabFeature’s lead producers who headlined the project.

“It is exciting to work with many filmmakers from different cultures. Each filmmaker come from a different culture with his or her own language, beliefs and values; we use this as a gift to deliver much deeper universal meanings”, adds Hesam, who also directed a segment in Tehran.
