Endeavours Documentary Film Fest to Screen Fritz Lang’s ‘Metropolis’ with Live Musical Accompaniment!

For the first time in Singapore, moviegoers are able to enjoy the 1927 German sci-fi epic, ‘Metropolis’, directed by Fritz Lang and starred Brigitte Helm, Gustav Frohlich and Alfred Abel.

The silent film is regarded as the pioneering work of science fiction genre in movies as being among the first feature length movies of the genre. It features a range of elaborate special effects and set designs that director Lang envisioned the cityscape to be after seeing the skyscrapers in New York in 1924.

To top the experience, this film screening is accompanied by live music from Paul Searles, an award-winning composer and sound designer at The Gunnery, Singapore.

Metropolis film screening is part of the Endeavours Documentary Film Festival, a platform to showcase documentary films about people and their lives and recognise great filmmaking. The festival will take place from 13 – 17 May 2015 at the Arts House.
