8 Things You Need to Know about 'Pitch Perfect 2'!

By InCinemas  /  14 May 2015 (Thursday)
Admit it, you love musical movies; somehow, somewhere deep in your heart, you are a secret 'Grease', 'Dreamgirls' or a 'Music and Lyrics' fan. The best thing about embracing it? You are never alone.

When Pitch Perfect came into the picture in 2012, we went into a 'Cups' frenzy and somehow became a fan of Tony Award nominee, Anna Kendrick and the hilarious comedian Rebel Wilson.

In Pitch Perfect 2, the stakes are higher, bigger and funnier. InCinemas caught the movie a few days back and we loved it! Pitch Perfect 2 hit all the right notes - the comedy, musical numbers and performances at the World Championships.

So here are the doh-dohs (you have to sing it) to note before you catch the aca-fun, aca-hilarious movie!

(Watch the trailers here!)

               1. The movie is directed by ever-so-talented Elizabeth Banks

Pitch Perfect 2 marks Banks’ directorial debut. She starred in the movie as the commentator Gail, alongside the sexist John (John Michael Higgins).

"I'm hopeful that making this movie -  that was written by a woman, directed by a woman and stars a lot of women - I'm hoping that we inspire more women to go behind the camera and take leadership positions," Banks said. (source)

                2. Star-studded Guest Appearances

The list of guest stars appearing in this sequel is aca-amazingly bootylicious, if you get  my drift.

You may already know that American football team Green Bay Packers are in the movie, so do the real-life a cappella superstars Pentatonix but that’s just a small part of the list. Darren Cross guest stars as the MC during the Riff-Off and one (make that a pair) very important VIP that appears right at the start of the film. The list goes on. Yes, it’s that huge.

                  3. Song to lookout for: ‘Flashlight’

w1280

The uplifting track which was released a month ahead of the movie’s premiere, received favourable reviews from critics and fans alike. In the movie, it’s an original song written by Hailee Steinfeld’s character and is later used in the final performance. The song is actually co-written by Sia Furler and Sam Smith, and sung by Jessie J.

                  4. Aca-Bootcamp

Banks and the cast, especially for the Barden Bellas, went through a two-week boot camp to train their vocals and choreography. Where do we sign up?

                  5. The Standout Newbie: Hailee Steinfeld

w1280

Her face might be familiar to you, having appeared in films like Ender's Game, Begin Again and True Grit, for which she was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in 2010. At 18 years-old, Pitch Perfect 2 might be her big break as she sings, dances and charms viewers with her infectious smile. As the Barden Bella newbie, Emily, she’s the next Beca (Kendrick) who will be leading the group (if there’s a Pitch Perfect 6?).

                  6. Extra Song to be Added in the DVD

w1280

Nobody knows what is the new song that fans will only be able to listen when the DVD is released, whether is it an original number or a medley of classics but we bet it’s gonna be good.

                   7. Rebel Wilson does her Own Stunt

w1280

In the opening musical number where we are reintroduced to the Barden Bellas, Fat Amy (Rebel Wilson) gets stuck in a helpless situation of a wardrobe malfunction. For her to hang from the ceiling mid-air, she had to do her own stunts herself because the production crew wasn’t able to get a stunt double of her size. She trained with a trainer five weeks before the shoot to achieve that pivotal scene. (source)

                    8. STAY for the Ending Credits

w1280

If you intend to catch this movie (why wouldn’t you!), here’s a very important advice/announcement/ information for you: STAY for the credits - mid-point at least. It’s worth the very short wait.
