The touching and beautiful ‘love letter’ for Singapore, film anthology ‘7 Letters’ doesn’t stop here. It has been selected as Singapore’s entry to the upcoming Oscar awards for the ‘Best Foreign Language Film category.

The film will compete with 80 countries for a chance to be nominated for the 88th Academy Awards which will take place in February 2016.

7 Letters is a film anthology by seven of Singapore’s most prolific directors - Royston Tan, Tan Pin Pin, Eric Khoo, K Rajagopal, Jack Neo, Boo Junfeng and Kelvin Tong — who came together to  present a ‘love letter’ for Singapore’s 50th birthday.

Other films running in the same category are Taiwan’s ‘The Assassin’ (Hou Hsiao-Hsien) and Hong Kong’s ‘To The Fore’ (Dante Lam).

7 Letters premiered at the Capitol Theatre earlier this July and tickets were snapped up within two hours. Additional screenings at the National Museum were overwhelming, so much so that Golden Village cinemas released the film nationwide for four weeks. Film critics and audiences have nothing but good reviews for this unique and sincere film.

The nominations will only be announced live on January 14 2016, but till then, we’re crossing our fingers for 7 Letters.
