Ken Kwek's 'Unlucky Plaza' Gets U.S. Release!
By Flora / 31 Dec 2015 (Thursday)
Singapore director Ken Kwek's debut feature, 'Unlucky Plaza' gets U.S. debut after a successful premiere at the Singapore International Film Festival in 2014, followed by a 15-week theatrical run in Singapore.
The film, which had its world premiere at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival, will open in the United States this January 2016.
“Unlucky Plaza is a refreshing, unique, and very wellmade film that is also bold in its exploring longsuppressed social schisms in Singapore. We are 'lucky' to being part of its international launch in fact we can’t wait to bring it to our audiences in North America,” says Donald Rabinovitch, Executive Vice President of Cinemaflix Entertainment, the film’s U.S distributor, who saw Kwek’s debut feature play to soldout audiences at TIFF in Toronto.
The film is set to be released in Philippines theaters nationwide, shortly after its U.S. premiere.
