The Handmaiden
(Opening InCinemas: 7 July)

One of the most talked-about films in Korea, The Handmaiden is an erotic thriller that was selected to compete for the coveted Palme d’Or at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival. Adapted from the novel 'Fingersmith' by Welsh writer Sarah Waters, The Handmaiden, directed by award-winning Park Chan-wook (Oldboy) became Korea’s No.1 rated-R film with the most opening week viewers and ranked top in box office.

Rating of the film is not out yet, but we are dead-sure it’s going to be an R21 rating for its homosexual theme. Let’s just hope there won’t be any cuts in it.

Ghostbusters
(Opening InCinemas: 14 July)

Who you gonna call? Singapore welcomed director Paul Feig and one of the funniest woman in Hollywood, Melissa McCarthy two weeks ago where we also set the Guinness World Records for the ‘Largest Gathering of People Dressed as Ghosts at a Single Venue’!

“I love working with funny women. Why the original worked was because of those four ghostbusters who were at that time, the funniest people working together. All I said is that I needed to create that chemistry here, and I know the funniest women on the planet… and that’s the only agenda I had - to make people laugh,” said Feig at the press conference earlier this month.

While some die-hard fans of the 1984 original might be skeptical about this reboot, we’re honestly waiting impatiently for it to open in theatres!

Star Trek Beyond

(Opening InCinemas: 21 July)

It comes as no surprise to learn that the beloved Starship Enterprise is going to be destroyed in the newest Star Trek franchise, Star Trek Beyond. We’re as sad as Captain Kirk (Chris Pine) to watch the U.S.S Enterprise shatter to pieces, but with Justin Lin (Fast & Furious franchise) helming the movie, expect thrilling big-scale action, as well as intense, sentimental sequences.

Star Trek Beyond also stars Zachary Quinto (Spock), Zoe Saldana (Uhura), Simon Pegg (Scotty), Anton Yelchin (Chekov) and John Cho (Sulu).
