Chin Han to star in ‘Mortal Kombat’ Reboot

Singaporean actor Chin Han has joined the cast of ‘Mortal Kombat’, the live-action reboot of the popular video game, which was previously made into a 1995 movie and later a 2011 web series.

Along with Hiroyuki Sanada (Avengers: Endgame), Chin Han will play villain Shang Tsung and Sanada as Scorpion.  Shang Tsung is one of the few original ‘Mortal Kombat’ characters, a powerful evil warlock and shapeshifter who absorbs the souls of those he defeats in order to maintain his youth and power. As the great sorcerer of the Outworld, Shang Tsung wants Earth defeated so he can build an empire. He is the arch-nemesis to Liu Kang (Ludi Lin).

Best known for starring opposite Christian Bale in “The Dark Knight,” Han was most recently seen starring with Dwayne Johnson in “Skyscraper.” His other recent work includes Roland Emmerich’s “Independence Day: Resurgence,” Netflix’s “Marco Polo” and Rupert Sanders’ “Ghost in the Shell.”

Other cast members of the reboot adaption include Joe Taslim, Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Tadanobu Asano, Mehcad Brooks, Sisi Stringer and Lewis Tan.

Mortal Kombat is set to premiere in 2021
