Jake Gyllenhaal‘s upcoming movie, The Guilty, will now see its premiere on Netflix after the streaming service optioned the film for US$30 million!

The Guilty takes place over the course of a single morning in a 911 dispatch call center. Gyllenhaal will play call operator Joe Bayler who tries to save a caller in grave danger—but he soon discovers that nothing is as it seems, and facing the truth is the only way out.

Production on the movie is expected to start before year’s end with Antoine Fuqua directing the dramatic thriller that's based on the Gustav Möller-directed Danish drama Den Skyldige that premiered at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival.

Gyllenhaal and Fuqua first teamed on the 2015 boxing drama Southpaw. The actor said:

I couldn’t be more excited to work with Antoine again. Our time together on Southpaw was one of the great artistic experiences of my career, and I cannot wait to be back on set with him again. The Guilty is a special story, and one that we all feel very close to.
