Alan Arkin exits The Kominsky Method ahead of its final season

One half of the dynamic duo of Netflix's The Kominsky Method has decided to part with the show ahead of its third and final season. Alan Arkin, who plays rep Norman Newlander to Michael Douglas’ actor Sandy Kominsky, is exiting the comedy drama series.
Arkin had desires to leave the series long before and his departure will be addressed in the storyline for season 3 though there was no prior indication to his departure when the show was renewed for a third outing.
Arkin, Douglas and the series itself were all nominated at the Emmys recently but lost out to Schitt’s Creek which swept every single comedy category. Both actors had garnered Emmy nominations for each of the two seasons so far, with Douglas picking up a Golden Globe for his performance as the titular actor and acting coach.
This shocking exit is the second departure of a major star from a Chuck Lorre series within the last month. Earlier in September, Anna Faris announced that she was leaving the CBS multi-cam sitcom Mom ahead of season 8, to pursue other opportunities beyond the show.
Seasons 1 and 2 of The Kominsky Method is now streaming on Netflix.
