'When Hainan Meets Teochew' To Have International Premiere At HKIFF!

SINGAPORE -- When Hainan Meets Teochew by director Han Yew Kwang will make its international premiere at the 35th Hong Kong International Film Festival (HKIFF) from 20 Mar to 5 Apr 2011. The romantic comedy, which stars Lee Chau Min and Tan Hong Chye as an unlikely couple who meet because of a missing brassiere will be screened under Global Vision - a section devoted to new works from around the world. 

The ?lm will also be screened for industry players at the Hong Kong International Film & TV Market (FILMART) (21-24 Mar), which will be held in conjunction with HKIFF. Director Han Yew Kwang is elated by the news of the ?lm's selection at HKIFF, and hopes that more people will get to see the ?lm because of its selection. He is looking forward to the reactions of an overseas audience, especially after having received much positive response from the local audience. 

As previously reported, the ?lm has also been chosen to be the opening ?lm for the Asian Queer Film Festival in Japan in May 2011.  

When Hainan Meets Teochew will have its ?nal local screening at 7pm on 25 Feb 2011 at Sinema Old School before its premiere at HKIFF.
