Join the Inaugural Singapore Heritage Short Film Competition (HSFC) 2014!

By InCinemas  /  25 Mar 2014 (Tuesday)

As Singapore edges closer to celebrate its 50th Birthday, join the inaugural Singapore Heritage Short Film Competition (HSFC) 2014, organised by the Singapore Film Society (SFS)!

The competition is targeted towards students and young talents, to encourage them to go out and discover stories of heritage from the many associations, clubs and societies (registered under Registry of Societies) that are 50 years or older. Through this competition, these young filmmakers will be exposed to learn more about Singapore's culture and history through research, archival images and materials.

The judges include heritage experts AP Lai Chee Kien and Imran bin Tajudeen; as well as established filmmakers Jasmine Ng and Sherman Ong. After the award ceremony in July, the winning short films will be compiled into a travelling showcase, which can be screened at the physical space of Clan Associations, Clubs and Societies that are featured in the films.

Apart from creating your own film, participants are encouraged to blog and V-log their filmmaking experiences as it will also add to the final scores of the competition.

The cash prize money for the top 3 winning teams:
  • 1st prize: S$3,000
  • 2nd prize: S$2,000
  • 3rd prize: S$1,000
And consolation prize money for up to 10 teams can be budgeted for films that are short listed in the final compilation showcase.

Find out more about the competition at the official website and Facebook!
