Five of South Korea’s hottest stars of the popular variety show Running Man were in town last weekend, determined to leave a memorable experience for their fans as they played games, sang numerous songs and took selfies with the over 2,600 crowd.
Fans of Running Man in Singapore were ecstatic to catch the 5 resident cast members of the popular urban action variety series, namely Kim Jong Kook, HAHA (Ha Dong Hoon), Ji Suk Jin, Lee Kwang Soo and Song Ji Hyo last Saturday at The Star Performing Arts Centre. This marks the second successive Running Man Fan Meeting in Singapore where it had elements of an interactive musical concert – stage games, song performances and video montages of memorable scenes from the series.
The seasoned entertainers delivered charming performances and tickled the audience with their quirky banter and antics. One of the highlights of the evening was when the ‘Easy Brothers’ Lee Kwang Soo and Ji Suk Jin, surprised the fans with a parody of ‘Trouble Maker’ sparking roaring laughter and cheers.
23 lucky fans not only had the chance to play games with the cast members, a few of them got hugs and handshakes, complete with polaroid photos with these Korean stars. In the spirit of Running Man challenges, the entertaining stage activities included a game of charades and traditional Korean games such as ttakji (slap match) and jegi (a game similar to Chapteh).
The popular game show features these cast members as fun-loving and spontaneous individuals which was clearly shown through the fan meeting. Though many of them are not singers nor did they always hit the right pitch when singing, it was their effort and laughter that made the crowd love them even more.
A special 'fan-event' was held where audiences were asked to turn on the torch light on their mobile phones while singing 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star'. It wasn't a spectacular view but voices from the 2600-strong crowd were clearly heard that made 'ace member' Song Ji Hyo teared up. A cake was presented to them, followed by three encore performances by all the cast members.
