Japanese Blockbuster ‘Shin Godzilla’ to be Released in IMAX!

By Flora  /  23 Aug 2016 (Tuesday)

The monster epic ‘Shin Godzilla’ is the first ever Japanese blockbuster in Singapore to be released in IMAX. It will also be available to audiences in 2D and D-Box.

Managing Director of Encore Films, Joyce Lee, said: “We’re delighted to present Shin Godzilla in IMAX to our local audiences. This is the first Japanese blockbuster to be released in IMAX in Singapore, and we believe that the IMAX experience definitely befits the legendary ‘King of Monsters’. Audiences will be able to immerse themselves in Shin Godzilla’s thrilling action with IMAX’s unparalleled image and sound quality.”

Shin Godzilla was released in Japan on 29 July 2016 to tremendous box office success, and it maintained the number one spot at the box office for two consecutive weeks. The film grossed over ¥$3.3 million (S$45 million) in just two weeks, which surpassed the total Japanese box office of Hollywood’s 2014 Godzilla and more than doubled that of Toho’s 2004 GODZILLA: FINAL WARS. The film has also been hailed as a “masterpiece” by Japanese critics.
