It's the One-Year Anniversary of Marvel Studios' Avengers: Endgame!

By Rachelle  /  24 Apr 2020 (Friday)

It has been a year since the release of one of the most highly-anticipated films of 2019, Marvel Studios' Avengers: Endgame.

Marvel Studios' epic film shattered every opening week record in box office history when it opened with US$1.2 billion worldwide and US$350 million domestically. It also set the record for the biggest domestic opening day ever with $156 million.

Additionally, the film was also the first to earn US$2 billion in ticket sales faster than any other film in history. It should come to no surprise when it finally achieved the honour of becoming the highest-grossing film of all time, surpassing James Cameron's Avatar which held the record for 10 years.

In Singapore, Endgame is the all-time box office champion and grossed S$19.4 million, toppling its predecessor Avengers: Infinity War which checked in at S$16 million the year before.

Endgame not only broke records around the world but it also gave us many iconic scenes and moments that are still talked about and referenced to this day.

Can you hear it through the gif? No matter how many times I watched Endgame, I will still get the chills down my spine when I hear Captain America shout ‘Avengers Assemble!’ For me, this scene is still the most iconic scene in all of Marvel’s MCU movies to date!

I was so excited about this part of the fight against Thanos! I still remember vividly the reactions of the audience when we first saw this scene together in the cinemas. When Captain America wields Mjölnir and started summoning thunder, I could hear everyone going, “OMG” “Holy Sh*t” “OHHHH”.

GIRL POWER! I always felt that the female characters in Avengers were always given the short end of the stick Black Widow Standalone Movie After A Decade, but this scene ladies and gentlemen was the best scene-stealer in the movie. Don’t you ever wonder how an Avenger movie with just our female super-heroines be like?

With the end of MCU’s phase three, I guess its safe to say goodbye to most of the OG Avengers (unless they make a cameo in Black Widow) as most of them are out of commission after Endgame. No matter how big or small their roles are, all of them played a part in propelling the MCU to where it is today.

InCinemas would like to express our appreciation to all of the Original Avengers for serving the MCU well in the past decade. We love you 3000.
