More Delays Are Expected For Our Friendly-Neighbourhood Spider-Man
By Chen Shun / 07 May 2020 (Thursday)
It is prevalent for studios to push back the production or release of any movie with the ongoing global situation. The newest on this bandwagon is Sony, and it’s delay to the sequel to the animation Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and the third instalment of the Spider-Man: Homecoming trilogy (created in partnership with Marvel Studios). Both of the mentioned movies will receive months-long delays.
Some of you already know this, but Marvel Studio’s movies are all planned in sequence. If one movie is pushed back, every other film that is scheduled behind it will all be affected. But for the first time in history, Disney will make an order change in the Marvel Cinematic Universe when it comes to movie release dates, as Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was supposed to open before the third live-action Spider-Man movie.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’s sequel will now be released on October 6th, 2022 instead of April 7th, 2022 and the final movie in the Homecoming trilogy will open on November 4th, 2021 instead of July 15th, 2021.
Doctor Strange, Thor
Disney’s Marvel Studios is delaying two of its other films to accommodate Spider-Man — Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Thor: Love and Thunder. Doctor Strange’s sequel, will now open on March 24th, 2022 and Thor: Love and Thunder is shifting to February 10th, 2022.
Who knows if this will be the finalised dates? Only time can tell.
