It was a dazzling night where international superstars Wang Lee-hom, Zhang Ziyi and director Dennie Gordan graced the red carpet at the Marina Bay Sands last Friday, for the premiere of My Lucky Star.
The pair not only looked good with each other, they were singing praises and flattered their co-actors during the press conference held at the ArtScience Museum, Marina Bay Sands.
Zhang, who plays bubbly character Sophie in the upcoming romantic-comedy talked about her experience in Singapore saying, “Singaporeans will be excited to make a trip to the Marina Bay Sands SkyPark infinity pool because Wang Lee-hom has swam there!”
“We had some time around Singapore and Lee-hom was our tour guide, bringing us places such as iFly at Sentosa. He gathered everyone and even chartered a bus to bring us around,” she added.
Zhang wears more than one hat in this production; as an actress and producer. In terms of finding the male lead for the movie, Lee was the first person that came to mind. “Since we last met five years ago, I’ve always wanted to work with Lee-hom on a movie. When the script was almost done, I knew that Lee-hom was the right fit for the role” she commented.
American-Taiwanese actor-singer Wang echoed her excitement about their new working collaboration. He said “I am very happy to have this chance to act alongside Zhang Ziyi and now I’ve seen her skills as a producer.”

Now known as the first American- film director to direct a Chinese movie, Dennie Gordon, also played along in the teasing of the couple. “Oh yeah, the kissing was good.” She then directed an unexpected question to Zhang, asking her “How was Lee-hom as a kisser? He was pretty good I think!” which led to much laughter amongst the regional media.
“When they were kissing, I never wanted to call cut,” she continued cheekily.
My Lucky Star opens InCinemas this thursday, 19 September 2013! You definitely don’t want to miss the highly talked-about ‘kissing scene’.
