Singapore, 18 April 2011 – In light of the current situation in disaster-stricken Japan, Cathay-Keris Films has partnered JCI Senators Club of Singapore in an effort to raise funds towards the Singapore Red Cross Society Japan Disaster 2011 relief effort.
A charity premiere of the Japanese action thriller UMIZARU 3 will be held at Cathay Cineplex Cineleisure Orchard on 1 May 2011, Sunday at 11:30am. Tickets are priced at S$50 each (inclusive of GST). All nett proceeds will be donated to the Singapore Red Cross Society Japan Disaster 2011 Fund. Money collected for the fund will go towards the relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts for survivors.
The UMIZARU Trilogy is based on Shuho Sato's popular comic of the same name. The first of the Trilogy was released in 2004 and became an instant hit. The passionate young cadets at the Japan Coast Guard Academy depicted in the first UMIZARU, have grown to become elite search-and-rescue divers. In the highly inspirational UMIZARU 3, these brave divers put their lives at risk to save civilians trapped in a natural gas plant, while a menacing typhoon approaches. For more details on the film and the franchise, please refer to the attached production notes.
From today, members of the public who are keen to partake in the fund-raising effort can purchase the tickets to the charity premiere, via Cathay Cineplexes’ e-ticketing site, the Cathay Movie Line 6235 1155, or over the box office counters of any Cathay Cineplexes.
Members of the public may also donate directly to the Singapore Red Cross Society. Information on direct donations and the Japan Disaster 2011 Fund is available here: http://www.redcross.org.sg/Japan-Disaster-2011.phtml
UMIZARU 3 will be released island wide for general viewing on 5 May 2011, Thursday.

Well, I've watched the movie and quite enjoyed it. Umizaru 3 shows a situation where the human lives are weighed in contrast to the joint-property with Korea and Russian worthed more than a billion dollars. Would you sacrifice 5 human lives to protect the national interest?
Also, as a Coast Guard, the mission is to protect and save lives. But in midst of disaster, do you still have the courage to carry out your duties, putting your life in jeopardy so others may have a chance to live on?
What Japan is facing after the 311 earthquake, is indeed a disaster. Many has responded by initiating fund-raising events and donating what they can afford to.
Here, by purchasing the tickets is yet another way to help contribute and playing your part to aid Japan in their recovering phase. You can also donate directly to the Singapore Red Cross Society via the link I've put above.
So, do what we can to help out =) Cheers!
